Our work

Supporting children
affected by war-trauma

The story
so far

Peace of Mind Foundation started its operations in January 2023. Since then, we have worked with partners on the ground to improve access to quality mental health and psychosocial support offers for children affected by violence, war and displacement. We focus on culturally appropriate and effective measures, such as art and movement inspired therapeutic approaches.

Projects and Initiatives

PoM finds, facilitates and funds innovative and effective trauma healing and MHPSS projects or capacity development activities. Ideally, we are involved in the entire project cycle, from needs assessments and planning process, throughout the implementation, until the evaluation and learning phase.

We focus on high-impact and good value for money measures that center on the most vulnerable children and their caretakers. We support partners and projects worldwide, with a strong emphasize on emergency and war-affected contexts.

Using Sports for MHPSS

Sports have long been recognized as a valuable tool for promoting mental health and well-being, especially in community-based interventions. They help strengthen family and social support systems, foster resilience, and equip children with essential coping skills. With this in mind, the Peace of Mind Foundation and War Child partnered to pilot a new football-based MHPSS methodology in the Central African Republic. Implemented in the Bamingui-Bangoran Prefecture, the initiative aimed to support conflict-affected children by integrating life skills development into structured football sessions. Watch the video below to learn more about this impactful project.

Using Art and Music for MHPSS

Art and music are powerful tools for healing. In partnership with YAD Pakistan, the Peace of Mind Foundation is supporting Afghan refugee and host community children through trauma-informed play, art, and music-based sessions in eight school-based healing rooms. These safe spaces help children process stress and trauma, build resilience, and reconnect with joy. The project has already shown powerful results—improved emotional expression, renewed interest in school, stronger social bonds, and increased self-confidence through creative exploration.

Where we work

Our Partners

Our partners are international NGOs, national NGOs, foundations and grassroots organizations that share our vision and commitment to provide high quality, safe and culturally-appropriate mental health and psychosocial support for children living in or fleeing from the world’s conflict and disaster zones. Our partners are front-line organizations with dedicated knowledge and expertise on children in armed conflict, MHPSS and trauma healing, and we continuously seek to grow our network of partners, allies and like-minded organizations.

We mostly engage in partnerships through project-based grant agreements but we are open to other forms of partnerships, such as research and knowledge exchange, advocacy and policy development.
